Registrations of second level .ir domain names passed the one million mark in recent days statistics from the registry IRNIC show.
The most recent statistics show there are 1,002,565 .ir domain names registered under Iran’s country code top level domain. There are also a number of third level registrations with the largest being .co.ir with 3,981 and 1,362 .ac.ir domain names. Iran also has ایران (Iran) TLD which has 1,895 registrations. In total, there are 1,011,144 Iranian domain names across .ir and ایران.
According to a report in The Iran Project there have “over 50,000 new domains in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (Mar. 21 – Dec. 21)”.
