Donuts have topped the Deloitte 2017 Technology Fast 500, an award recognising the fastest growing public and private technology companies in North America, Deloitte announced Thursday. These tech companies note Deloitte are on the cutting edge and are transforming the way we do business.
The awards recognise technological innovation, entrepreneurship, and rapid growth across companies—large, small, public, and private—and hail from cities far and wide across North America and are disrupting the technology industry.
Donuts are the largest new generic top level domain (gTLD) registry operator by new gTLDs with 238 following the takeover of Rightside, with the next largest being Google’s Charleston Road Registry with 46, although there are less than 5,000 domains under management (DUM) spread across these and only 3 have entered General Availability. Donuts are the second largest registry by DUM with 3.337 million behind Famous Four Media with 5.458 million, according to nTLDstats.com.
Bruce Jaffe, Donuts president and chief executive officer, cited growing global demand for more descriptive, meaningful domain names and the company’s strong business execution for powering its rapid revenue growth.
“Donuts has the world’s largest portfolio of new domain names, which range from .careers, .social, .live, .news, and over 200 more,” said Jaffe.
“Individuals and organizations have recognized the power of new domains in promoting their brands online – for their primary and ancillary websites, for their social and ecommerce platforms, and for their online advertising and marketing,” Jaffe continued. “From TMobile.careers, to Home.credit, to FullMeasure.news, to Lifetime.life – businesses of all sizes and types are embracing new domains to connect more effectively with their target audiences. We expect that Donuts’ Fast 500 achievement will help to further accelerate worldwide adoption of new domains.”
“The Deloitte 2017 North America Technology Fast 500 winners underscore the impact of technological innovation and world class customer service in driving growth, in a fiercely competitive environment,” said Sandra Shirai, vice chairman, Deloitte Consulting LLP and U.S. technology, media and telecommunications leader. “These companies are on the cutting edge and are transforming the way we do business.”
Second and third on the Deloitte Fast 500 list were software companies Classpass and Toast followed by Aratana Therapeutics and Theravance Biopharma, both listed as biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies.
Overall, 2017 Technology Fast 500™ companies achieved revenue growth ranging from 137 percent to 59,093 percent from 2013 to 2016, with median growth of 378 percent.
